the first time we met…
Our mutual friend Marc’s band was playing a show at The Three Clubs on Vine in Hollywood. He decided to invite each of us separately, sit us next to each other and see what happened. An initial attraction led to some texting and talking and ultimately what might charitably be called a comically bad date.
the second time we met…
Five years later, Marc was at it again. Matthew was shooting the final scenes of the film Shadow People directed by another great mutual friend, Matt. Marc came to the set to help out and by sheer happenstance, he just happened to have Nettie in tow. What a coincidence! And of course, once Nettie was in front of Matthew’s camera, the sparks flew!
We were together for a while. Then we weren’t.
And so it goes. Matthew moved to New York. Nettie stayed in L.A.
the third time we met…
Another six years passed. Nettie needed some advice and reached out to Matthew. They spoke as if not a day had passed.
DM’ing led to texting. Texting led to talking. Talking led Nettie to announce she was coming to New York!
The cab ride from the airport was a bit awkward but the weekend was incredible. One walk around Central Park and we knew.
One year later, Matthew proposed in the very spot of that first walk.
